Hello All!

The previous week was wonderful and we had a wonderful time on our last campout to Kikapoo last weekend.

This coming week is PACKED with activities for the Troop.
  • First of all is Troop Comitteee Meeting which will take place tomorrow, Tuesday 10 November 2009 from 8-9PM. We encourage all parents to attend to help plan the coming events that the troop will be taking part in.
  • Next we have MOVED our Scout Meeting from Wednesday night to Saturday Morning from 10AM to 1 PM as a part of the first annual Rake and Steak. We will be doing this service project in conjunction with the High Priest Group of the Champaign Ward. We will be meeting at the home of the High Priest Group Leader Gentzy Franz. 1107 W. John St. Champaign, Illinois 61821 We will be raking leaves for some people in the area and having some steak (burgers) afterward. Just to repeat there WILL BE NO TROOP MEETING ON WEDNESDAY.

This is located at their home. 903 Meadow View Court Savoy, Illinois 61874 All boys should bring an article of clothing that they think an ancient Nephite/Lamanite would have worn.

Campout and Post Wednesday Wrap-Up (4 November 2009)

Hello All!

I just wanted to give you a run down of the happenings from last week's scout activity. We planned for our camp out and help further establish our troop by solidifying some aspects of our two patrols. The two patrols, the Pumas and the Beasts, now have a flag that has been designed and a patrol yell. Ask your boys about them and see if they can tell you about both of them. (They should be able to! ;] )

Beasts:
Chase (Patrol Leader)
Nathaniel (Chaplain Aide)
Matthew (Webmaster)
Joe
Kenny

Pumas:
Zach (Patrol Leader)
Jonas (Senior Patrol Leader over both patrols but in this patrol)
Wyatt (Quartermaster for both patrols)
Brandon
Joshua

And as many of you know (especially if you read the previous paragraph) there is a camp out coming up this weekend. (Tomorrow!) We are very excited to be heading back to Kikapoo. We will be meeting at the Church at 5:15 PM on Friday and then we will be leaving at 5:30 PM. We should be back at the church at Noon on Saturday. Food is all taken care of, the boys will just need to remember to bring flashlights, sleeping bags and WARM CLOTHING. (It might be a cold one!) They also should be wearing their scout shirts as we travel to campsite. (They can take them off once they get there so as to not ruin them.) Also the boys have instituted a new rule involving camp outs and cell phones and electronic devices. Electronic devices will not be permitted on campouts. (Unless there is an needed exception, if this is the case please let me know.) Cell phones will be allowed to be brought but collected and kept together in a safe, secure location for the duration of the camp out. There will, however, be allotted cell phone time at night, that will give the boys an opportunity to call home and say good night. If there is an emergency then we will still have access to our phones. This was a compromise that the boys came up with, so please help us keep this rule. Thanks and see you tomorrow!

***Added Later****
Just so you are aware, the boys also planned our fireside activity here are the assignments:
Opening Prayer: Joe
Scout Spiritual Thought: Zach
Leader Spiritual Thought: Jonathan Young
Closing Prayer: Wyatt

If there are any questions or concerns please give one of us a call.
